Aylesbury Astronomical Society

We meet once a month, usually on the first Monday, with a presentation by a guest speaker or occasionally a society member. Subjects range from the latest developments in astronomy and research, to astrophotography, this history of astronomy, basics and more. We try to accommodate interests of all levels of experience.

Notable speakers in the past include the historian Dr Allan Chapman as well as other leading scientists and astronomers. Recent presentation have included Space Weather and the sound of the Cosmos.

The society also organises occasional meetings at the observatory when some maintenance is required and events such as BBQs and introductions to our equipment. We have observing equipment available for loan to members including specialised equipment such as solar scopes to look at the sun.
